This was talked about a bit in guild so I figured I put this out there.
The easy way to do it is to find an add-on that will do it for you. Of course, this means you have to keep that add-on current.
The manual way is to edit the following file:
<Your WoW install directory/WTF/Config.wtf
You can edit it by opening it with notepad.
In that file, add the follwing lines:
SET CombatLogRangeCreature "200"
SET CombatLogRangeFriendlyPlayers "200"
SET CombatLogRangeFriendlyPlayersPets "200"
SET CombatLogRangeHostilePlayers "200"
SET CombatLogRangeHostilePlayersPets "200"
SET CombatLogRangeParty "200"
SET CombatLogRangePartyPet "200"
SET CombatDeathLogRange "200"
